Spring is finally here in San Pedro, and with vaccinations going around, we may even have a chance of being able to tentatively enjoy the outdoors this spring. It’s a wonderful time of year to visit San Pedro, as well as a wonderful time of year to move to San Pedro in general. Curious about spending the spring here and what you might expect? Here’s everything you need to know.

The Spring Weather in San Pedro

Between March and May, the average monthly temperatures during the day tend to be somewhere in the 70s, enough to wear a t-shirt and feel comfortable but not sweltering. San Pedro also tends to be quite a bit drier than the rest of the country, so you won’t have to worry about canceling your plans due to rain as much here as you might elsewhere. Humidity can be a factor, but humidity tends to be lower in spring — especially April — than throughout the rest of the year. In fact, overall, San Pedro is in the 77th percentile when it comes to pleasant weather.

Spring Picnic in San Pedro

Winter is over, the sun is shining, the days are getting longer…it just might be the perfect time for a picnic. Fortunately, San Pedro has plenty of beautiful scenery to provide a backdrop. White Point Park, along the coast, is a popular spot as it offers both parkgrounds and beach. You can find a number of picnic tables here. Averill Park is smaller and further inland, but you can picnic near the duck pond and take in the tranquil scenery. There’s also Point Fermin Park, one of the most popular parks in the area, complete with an amphitheater where shows can be hosted. Picnic at one of the picnic tables in the shade here for a perfect late spring day.

Spring Break in San Pedro

San Pedro doesn’t get overcrowded for spring break, but there will be an uptick in tourism in that time. Many San Pedro spring breakers will come to enjoy the beach or to go scuba diving. With the warming-but-not-quite-summer temperatures, it really is the perfect time to suit up and explore the ocean beneath the surface. If you’re a college senior, or you simply chose the spring break time of year to come by San Pedro, this could be the perfect time to look into available apartments and homes. Late spring is a popular time of year to move and this would allow you to be in your apartment by the time summer rolls around.
